One Wednesday afternoon after class, we, A-Team decided to take the 59 from Bishan interchange all the way to Changi Village to get us some Nasi Lemak and Nasi Ayam Penyet that it's so famous for. But before that, we went to Popular to get some items for the exhibition.
Colours, we were disagreeing on the colours!
I was thinking florescent pink and Farid blue..
Farid sulking, in his head he was probably thinking, "I want blue.. BLUE!"
And here is Cas, shopping for Christmas cards while we were on the job.. tut tut
Me looking all fiery and all.. where are the boys?! This items are heavy! No gentlemen's in our group!
Paying for the items.. Now here's a story. I didn't bring my Popular card, so suddenly someone tapped me from behind and all I saw was this Popular card. Was I dreaming? No, apparently there was this lady behind me who gave me her card so we had a discount off the items! Merci madame! The reciept. It was so much cheaper with discount!
Next we went to the interchange and got on 59. It was one long ride of falling asleep, gazing out the windows and just pretty boring long bus journey stuff.
Here are some shots on the way..
I thought this photograph looked particularly cool in some sort of way.
I was down, sulking and maybe sleeping while Cas and Darius hammed it out for the camera. Farid's expression is unknown.
Darius kept saying and I quote, "ARE WE THERE YET? I WANT TO NOMNOMNOM!"
Just kidding. He was probably just posing for the camera.
After perhaps an hour or more, our bus finally pulled up right outside the food center. We walked over to blk 3.
Now some people think that this dish is to die for, but Cas felt that it was just normal.
So perhaps the wait for the nasi lemak is not that worth the buzz?
Next up, we went to the nasi ayam penyet stall just across located at blk 2.
H ere we are at the stall. There wasn't a queue (lucky us), but according to Farid, there can be a queue so long on weekends that there isn't even space for people to dine indoor's. They have to take the food else where to eat.
Here's the store assistant preparing our food.
When we asked to take photographs he gave us this ready took photographs.. guess we aren't the first!
And our food arrives..
This is the best chicken, and the sauce was awesome. Rice was fragrant and just the right texture. Soup just completes the whole dish. One word, Perfection.
Digging in! Farid was describing how the dish is made, but all I remembered was this dish called "the hammered chicken"
Darius and Farid eating in silence, so focus and serious.
Attacking the chicken.
The above are materials we have purchase for our Lifeskills exhibition that's next up in our calender. We hope you have drooled one too many times over our ambrosial photographs but unfortunately we have come to the end of our food finding journey and we must thank all you readers for your avid support. Au revoir!
